Decipher's newest collectible card game, Young Jedi, is a near perfect card game. All the right elements are balanced, the card design is attractive and well thought out, and the rules are simple while allowing for clever strategies. Even the collectible element is well handled.

The first thing that strikes you is the clean design of the cards. All the relevant game information is easy to identify, and the card's picture is large and colorful, taking up a majority of the card face. Each card's number is printed in the icon for the set (Darth Maul's evil countenance is used to represent the current set, Menace of Darth Maul), and an icon representing the card's rarity is adjacent to it.

As attractive as the cards are, it's the rules that are truly impressive. The game requires no extra equipment (like counters or dice) and nothing more than simple addition to play. The objective of the game is to either force the other player to run out of cards, or to control two of the three planets that are seen in the movie (Naboo, Tatooine, and Coruscant). Like the other Star Wars CCG (that Decipher also produces), a "Light Side" deck battles against a "Dark Side" deck. Young Jedi also uses location cards, but is much more streamlined in their use.
