Rising Sun
by Dominique Sumner
Rising Sun is a scenario for GEV depicting a battle between a Nihon "stay-behind" OGRE and Combine force attempting to block its escape at any cost. The Nihon OGRE was deliberately left behind by retreating Nihon forces, to gather as much intelligence as possible on the advancing Combine units. Once the set time limit (48 hours) had expired, the Ogre then fight its way back toward friendly lines, passing this information to Nihon intelligence allowing them to successfully mount a counterattack.
Set Up
The GEV map is used. The attacking (Nihon) player (Red) gets 1 experimental stealth OGRE (it's a Nihon knockoff of the Combine Ninja ). The Ogre is self aware, and prefers to be called "Tohiro". The defending (Combine) player (black) gets 24 squads of infantry (48 points), 18 armor units, and Command Post Alpha (D2 M1). The OGRE starts the game by entering the map from the stream located in hex 1301 (north side of the map). The defending (Combine) player can place his units anywhere on the board with no more than 1/3 of his units north of the road that begins in hex 0104 and ending in hex 2203. No Combine units may begin the game within three hexes of hex 1301.
Special Rules
All city hexes are destroyed and are treated as rubble. All bridge, and road hexes begin the game intact.
Objectives
The Nihon player's objective is to have his Ogre escape back to friendly lines with the information it has gathered. The Combine player's objective is to stop him.
Escape
The Nihon player may escape through any of the hexes along the southwest section of the map beginning at hex 0116 and ending at hex 0123.
