Last Unicorn Staffers Robbed at Gunpoint

The Culver City design studio of Last Unicorn Games was robbed earlier this week by an armed intruder who briefly held four staff members and three other people at gunpoint. Although the gunman escaped with some cash and goods, no one was injured and the office's operations were not substantially affected.

Quoting the LUG statement on the incident:

The robbery occurred at roughly 9:30 PM, Tuesday, September 7. Last Unicorn president Christian Moore, company co-founder Owen Seyler, Star Trek: The Next Generation Line Developer Ross Isaacs, and graphic designer Charles Ryan, along with Tammie Kurtin, Allessandra Isaacs, an additional friend, and Gypsie (Charles and Tammie's dog) were in the office, playing a weekly session of a favorite roleplaying game. The gunman entered, threatened the occupants, and, in what police characterized as a "take-down style robbery," forced everyone to lay face-down on the floor while he gathered wallets, jewelry, keys, and other personal items of value. He also briefly searched the office, taking a Macintosh Powerbook G3 laptop computer.The robbery lasted several minutes, during which time the LUG employees and friends were repeatedly threatened with violence and death.

Culver City police responded swiftly to the 911 call following the gunman's departure, arriving within moments, but the robber had fled the building. Police and forensics units remained on the scene for roughly two hours, interviewing . . .
