Steve Jackson Games – Site Navigation

March 24, 2010

Dear Retailer:
Welcome to the Munchkin Opposable Thumb Drive! This is the 2010 version of the info package we've traditionally distributed at the GAMA Trade Show. With 2 gigs of storage, we had room to add a lot of extras!

Most of these files are in PDF (if you don't have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed, you can download it here). The format is very new for us, so please: If you like this, let us know. Contact our Director of Sales, Ross Jepson ([email protected]), or our Marketing Director, Paul Chapman ([email protected]). If you need something different, let us know that. Please tell us how to help your store succeed!

Thanks,

– Steve Jackson

Retailers and Us

As of 2010, Steve Jackson Games has been in business for 30 years, so we hope you already know something about us. We never take that for granted, though, any more than we'll take your business for granted!

Distributors handle most of our sales, and that's the way we want it. You should be able to contact any of the companies on our Authorized Distributor List for purchasing assistance. But if you ever need help or information about what we're doing, please contact us at [email protected].

Restocking used to be a real problem for retailers. That situation has eased . . . but any time you hear that a product is out of print, please check with us before giving up: email us at [email protected] or call (512) 447-7866 x501. If you don't take this step, your customer may go to a competitor or straight to us. (We do have an online store, but we don't want to compete with you. We provide this service because many customers don't have a local retailer at all . . . but our online sales are at our full retail price.)

Our Release Schedule

We know that new releases are a retailer's lifeblood, and we do our best to release something new for you at least every other month. Please make sure you get the new products onto your shelves, in quantities to satisfy demand. Among gamers who have a local store, the No. 1 reason for direct orders that we hear is, "My retailer can't get (or won't order) the new releases."

You can always find out what's been announced by checking our New Releases page. We also talk about new and upcoming releases in our newsletter, Where We're Going. And we frequently update the status of all our projects on our blog, the Daily Illuminator.

What's New for 2010?

Our newest release is Chez Cthulhu, combining the award-wining Chez Geek with the eldritch power of Cthulhu! It's available now. You can find all the details on the sell sheet.

In summer, we will ship two new dice games we've very excited about. Cthulhu Dice plays in 5 to 10 minutes, is fun for 2 to 6 players, and has an MSRP of $4.99! For more information, here's the sell sheet. Zombie Dice is a fast and fun press-your-luck game for two or more players, priced for an impulse buy. Check out the sell sheet for all the details!

A classic game gets an upgrade this June: Chez Geek House Party Edition combines the classic game and its two expansions (Slack Attack and Block Party) into a single Munchkin-sized box. We also took the opportunity to add a die and Slack counters.

For later in the year, we're working on a 5-6 player expansion for Revolution!, more booster-style expansions for Munchkin (and one for Deluxe Illuminati!), and many, many Munchkin reprints. Keeping the best-sellers in stock, at all times, remains our top priority.

Your Show Freebies!

Traditionally, we've handed out game samples; this year, we're trying something new. Instead of games, we've got dozens of PDFs to help you sell more games.

One Page Dice Towers! Decorated with Munchkin, GURPS, and Zombie Dice art, these print-and-play items are great to have around for your store events. Thanks to designer Russell Howell for letting us borrow his fantastic idea!

Shelf Talkers! You asked for them, and here they are! Print as many as you like, in full color or economical black and white. Use them to dress up your store with a bit of personalized Munchkin madness.

Demo Posters! Publicize your next demo, tournament, or regular game with these handy printable posters.

Frag Gold Edition Flash Game! The first-person shooter boardgame comes full circle, in a quick little digital format. If you don't have Flash installed, you can download it here.

Munchkin Opposable Thumb Drive! That's right, the USB drive which contains these files is also a Munchkin item – and like all Munchkin items, it has a special rule!

We're Online

We have a very active website, updated daily, at www.sjgames.com. Please check it out; please tell your customers to check out what we are doing. Each product (and a few that haven't come out yet!) has its own page, complete with printable versions of the rules, links to errata and reviews, and sample art.

Munchkin has its own site at www.worldofmunchkin.com. And for rules questions on any of our products, as well as release information, visit our web forum at forums.sjgames.com!

Follow us on Twitter, where we're @sjgames. We tweet pictures of prototypes, our convention activities, game hook ideas, and other updates from around the office.

Every year, Steve writes a Stakeholder's Report, outlining our wins, losses, and major events that landed somewhere in between. You can read it here.

Everything on this drive is available online at www.sjgames.com/retailerpacket.
