With the 35th anniversary of Steve Jackson Games just around the corner, I thought it'd be a great time to interview the first artist ever hired by Steve Jackson Games back in the 80s. He did cover paintings and interior illustrations for Space Gamer magazine, Fantasy Gamer magazine, and "games and supplements too numerous to mention." If you'd like us to do a live Google Hangout with Denis Loubet, let us know using the #SJGamesLIVE hashtag on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Google+, Tumblr, or post to our Forums. When did you first start working with Steve Jackson Games? Well, I can tell it was in 1980, because that's when the Demon cover came out . . . read article

All right, everyone's on board with the need for zombie defense - that's a good start. Usually some doctor played by Brad Dourif has to do something horribly wrong before the government heeds the crazed warnings of a fringe action-scientist played by Casper Van Dien . . . read article

I once spent several minutes exchanging pleasantries with a dracolich, causing my family to convulse with laughter. We were playing Castle Ravenloft, a rather fun cooperative boardgame distillation of the Dungeons & Dragons Fourth Edition ruleset that sends the heroes on missions where they have to work together to accomplish their goal . . . read article

Those of you who are Star Trek fans do not need to be told: Leonard Nimoy passed away on February 27 2015. I never met him, although I did see him once across a huge hall, while he was heading for a sold-out seminar . . . read article

Gamerati sent us this article, and it was a good read, so I thought I'd give it a signal boost. If you've ever been curious about how boardgames and roleplaying games have developed in other countries, this article will give you a lot of insight into that, as far as Brazil is concerned, at least . . . read article

I will not be appearing at Chi-Fi, due to bad communications and non-payment. If you had hoped to see me at that show, I'm very sorry - but the con chair is no longer returning my calls or mail, I haven't even been reimbursed for the plane ticket, and the only other committee member I have ever spoken to could do nothing but refer me back to the chair . . . read article

It's a universal truth that playing an RPG is made 250% better when you have a sweet portrait for your character. Unfortunately, I'm not an artist, and neither are you (unless you are, in which case, that's pretty rad) . . . read article

Fans of the GURPS Dungeon Fantasy line have reason to celebrate this month, with an issue of Pyramid devoted to expanding its potential and possibilities. Pyramid #3/76: Dungeon Fantasy IV features a new template -- the psychic slayer -- plus abilities, power-ups, enemies, and more, all from the pen of Sean Punch (who was also the mastermind behind GURPS Dungeon Fantasy 14: Psi). This issue continues the excitement with two new monster prefixes that go great with GURPS Dungeon Fantasy Monsters 1 (plus a boatload of modified monsters that take advantage of those options), a meaty guide to tweaking and enhancing magic, new magic items of interest to martial artists, a look at living dungeon rooms, and much more . . . read article

Over the recent holiday break I completed two new books about the marketing techniques toymakers used in the '80s to sell me (and millions of kids like me) action figures. Our Kickstarter project for Car Wars Arenas launches on March 31, 2015, and while discussing the project at the GAMA Trade Show I spent a little time talking about the cover artwork. The cover artwork was first created for Space Gamer #50, and as a kid it was always one of my favorite Car Wars images and I felt it should have been a book cover instead of just a magazine cover . . . read article
